Small Act, Large Heroism

Local Shanghai Student Saves Purity of Cultural Revolution
Keith Perrin       Jan 8 1966                        What You Need To Know, With China To Go

SHANGHAI- In local Shanghai elementary school, 6th grade student and Red Successor Du Hai, accuses classmate Ji-li Jiang of having a black back-round. Through this act of heroism he saves the purity of the Red Guards and chairman Mao’s good name. But how do others feel about this heroic act?Student Du Hai did his nation a favor by stopping black back-round Ji-li Jiang from corrupting the Red Guards name.
During this act of heroism Du Hai states how her father is a filthy rightist, and grandfather a lousy rotten landlord, changing the minds of the class stopping Ji-li from being elected. Through this small act of heroism the name of China continues to be pure, this students parents and chairman Mao must be proud.
Although stopping corruption in China, keeping the revolution pure, how does Ji-li feel about being singled out by almost the entire class, knowing the horrible history of her lousy family tree. Ji-li states “They shouldn’t judge me based on my grandfathers ways, i mean he died when my dad was 7.” Though stopping her from becoming a Red Successor what could she have contributed to the Red Guards, could it have changed the revolution for the better or could it have most likely made it worse and shamed it instead?
By this young hero Du Hai’s act he has saved the purity and good name of China. Through this a good Red Successor shall rise to help in the destruction of the 4 Olds. Encouraging many Red Successors to be that much better and cautious in order for chairman Mao to be known worldwide forever.

Cultural Map

Cultural Revolution Map

This map of China represents the area of which Mao had ruled in the tan. Chairman Mao had been known by all of China which shows how it is so wide spread on the map. The tan shows how wide spread over china Chairman Mao's red guards and other followers were located during the Cultural Revolution. The reason of his rule is through the book he wrote, Chairman Mao's Little Red Book, this book described his beliefs and was carried by his followers, telling them how to change China.

Chairman Mao's Little Red Book told of his ideas and beliefs of channging china for the better. It told how he believed destroying the 4 Olds would be a positive influence on China's Culture. This book was carried in a smaller, pocket-sized form which would be used by the Red Gaurds. It also talked about how people with black backgrounds (if they have or had a landlord or a rightist in their family at any point in time) should be punished for that reason. The bookwas first distributed to delegates during a conference on January 5 1964. Through his book, Chairman Mao was able to change peoples way of thinking thus giving power over China, a power which he had not deserved.
